With the opening of the City of Hope’s Cancer Specialty Hospital on its 72-acre academic research campus, City of Hope advances a next-generation national model of cancer care for the more than 2 million Americans diagnosed each year. Patients benefit from access to a complete continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—delivered on a single academic cancer campus built for the single purpose of saving lives.

City of Hope Orange County Cancer Specialty Hospital is a provider-based facility of City of Hope National Medical Center, a general acute care hospital. Together, they complete the region’s most advanced and fully integrated cancer care network, expanding access to specialized expertise, innovative acute and outpatient treatments, novel clinical trials, and groundbreaking technologies. Seamlessly connected to the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, the hospital was intentionally designed with and for the community it serves.

City of Hope is an internationally recognized leader in cancer research and specialized care, noted for driving advancements in CAR T and advanced cellular therapies, a national network of hundreds of clinical trials, unique supportive care and survivorship programs, and renowned experts across cancer sub-specialties.
 

  • Highly Specialized Cancer-Focused Expertise
    The academic research campus is now home to more than 100 world-renowned surgical oncologists, medical oncologists and hematologists with specialized expertise in treating thoracic, gastrointestinal cancers, women’s cancers, urologic cancers, plastic surgery and more as well as pulmonologists and hospitalists.
  • Clinical Trials
    City of Hope patients currently have access to more than 700 Phase 1-3 clinical trials conducted each year, the most cancer-focused clinical trials in Southern California. The new hospital provides access to 30 percent more cancer-focused clinical trials, including early-stage clinical trials in hematology and solid tumors. These Phase 1 clinical trials require close supervision in a hospital setting.

Primary visitors typically the patient’s closest family or friends – will receive wristbands for visitation during operational hours: 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. Please note that for the patient's health, safety and well-being, staff may request visitors to leave the patient room and wait in the visitor lounges located near the elevators on each floor of the hospital. View a list of insurance companies that City of Hope currently contracts with for its locations and physicians. Even if your plan is included, check with your insurance company to make sure you are covered. Your insurance company/medical group will tell you if you need any authorizations.

Surgical services include the latest da Vinci robotic surgery systems, including DV5, which features haptic feedback, enhanced 3D visualization and increased arm dexterity for greater precision and efficiency.

  • An inpatient rehabilitation gym staffed by physical therapists with oncology expertise who provide safe and productive healing exercise for patients. The integrated cancer rehab program supports chemoradiation treatment concurrently with rehabilitation.

The Wetterau Family Spiritual Care Center, housed in City of Hope Orange County’s cancer specialty hospital, was intentionally designed to reflect the spiritual diversity of our community.
