What is Supportive Care?

Supportive care eases the physical, emotional and psychological burdens of a life-changing diagnosis. At City of Hope, supportive care is tailored to each person. It allows patients to focus
on getting well and what matters in their lives. Access to supportive care has been shown to:

  • Increase patient satisfaction and quality of life — including at end of life
  • Significantly reduce inpatient stays, hospital readmissions and intensive care unit stays
  • Prevent complications
  • Improve patient and family experience and outcomes
