Spinal Tumors Support Services

Receiving a spinal tumor diagnosis can be scary. Navigating new ways to live well while managing your symptoms and treatment takes a team of support.

Living With a Spinal Tumor

When you come to City of Hope, you gain access to an expansive network of support services and staff to help you and your family along your spinal tumor journey.

Our supportive care team can help improve your quality of life both during and after treatment for your spinal tumor. That support includes everything from talk therapy to meditation to being paired up with a patient navigator, and includes support for:

  • Managing side effects of your spinal tumor and its treatment, which may include difficulty moving, weight loss and fatigue
  • Connecting you with pain management providers who can help you manage chronic pain before, during and after spinal tumor treatment
  • Setting you up with physical therapists who can help you recover after spinal tumor surgery or other treatments
  • Restoring your ability to engage in daily activities by working with occupational therapists who understand your routine
  • Dealing with feelings of stress or anxiety by connecting you with behavioral health providers who have experience treating spinal tumor patients
  • Providing strategies to help you get back to work or family routines

  • Managing pain that may begin before diagnosis and last long after treatment is complete
  • Navigating how to stay active and engaged with family and friends during treatment
  • Considering future fertility concerns if systemic treatments are used
  • Working with behavioral health providers who work exclusively with pediatric patients
