Advancing Care for the Veterans Who Care for Us

Inspired by family, service and a shared industry commitment to hope, Greg Welchans is leading NBPI’s 2026 Spirit of Life® campaign to help advance City of Hope® and TGen research and care for patients, families and veterans.

For decades, the National Business Products Industry (NBPI) has stood alongside City of Hope, helping advance lifesaving research, treatment and care for people facing cancer and diabetes.

Through the Spirit of Life campaign, generations of industry leaders have come together to turn success into impact.

Watch Greg Welchans, the NBPI 2026 Spirit of Life honoree share why this mission matters and how, together, the industry can continue building hope for patients and families everywhere.

In 2026, that legacy continues with Greg Welchans, president and chief marketing officer of Distribution Management, who will lead this year’s campaign as the National Business Products Industry Spirit of Life honoree.

“There are different parts of our industry, and through the years, those different segments of our industry have kind of bonded together,” said Welchans. “And what we found is if we kind of gather our money together, our ideas together, and our friendships together, that we can accomplish a lot more than individuals.”

A portion of this year’s campaign will focus on supporting veterans by helping advance City of Hope and the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen’s) precision medicine for combat veterans’ project. The project investigates theories about the high cancer rates of elite Special Operations Forces service members.

“My father was a veteran, and my uncle was a veteran, my father-in-law was a veteran, and my father-in-law eventually passed from cancer,” shared Welchans. “And I think it’s something that we owe our veterans the very best care, because they take care of us, and it’s become the cornerstone of my campaign.”
