A Life-Threatening Diagnosis Can Change Everything. So Can Hope.

In honor of Cancer Survivors Month, I invite you to listen to and share messages of hope for anyone navigating a cancer diagnosis.

There are an estimated 18.1 million cancer survivors in the United States. That’s 18.1 million people who are still here to live their dreams.

If you’re Vaughn Wilson, that means finishing high school and one day piloting a Medevac helicopter. Vaughn is a leukemia survivor whose doctors took aggressive action after he was diagnosed with the same form of leukemia as his sister. His cancer journey was not easy, but he’s been in remission for nearly two years after receiving a stem cell transplant at City of Hope.

Vaughn is proof that a life-threatening diagnosis can change everything but so can hope.

As a City of Hope supporter, you make hope a reality for thousands of people like Vaughn every year. Here, science and philanthropy meet with powerful effect.

Because of you, cancer breakthroughs are occurring more rapidly than at any point in history. Survival rates are climbing. Patients across our national network are living longer, better, healthier lives.

Because of you, City of Hope continues to be a magnet for top medical minds, including people like Hope Rugo, M.D., and Cristian Tomasetti, Ph.D., whose work will ensure we continue to improve outcomes far into the future.

Even though we have so much to celebrate, we will not settle until every patient wins their fight.

In honor of Cancer Survivors Month, City of Hope invited people to record inspirational messages for anyone navigating a cancer diagnosis. I hope you’ll take a moment to listen to their words and share them with others.

We also invite you to call the City of Hope line at 626-218-4056 to leave your own message filled with encouragement, strength or love for someone facing cancer. Thank you for being part of our community of hope.

With gratitude,

Kristin Bertell
