As a surgeon, I have the potential to have an immediate positive impact on patient care. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to help patients manage their cancer diagnosis.
Harold Theodore Huss, D.O., says that his “interest in science, coupled with [his] desire to help people” led him to a career in surgical oncology. With many honors, awards and articles in peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Huss takes a special interest in peritoneal carcinomatosis, a cancer that affects the thin layer of tissue that covers most of the abdominal organs.
 
“Many times when a patient has been diagnosed with carcinomatosis, he or she is told that there are no more options. Fortunately, there may be treatment options for this very difficult disease,” Dr. Huss said. “Through research and awareness, I hope to be able to make a positive impact on this demographic.”
 
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Huss has also received certifications in robotic surgery, advanced trauma life support and pediatric advanced life support. He received his degree in osteopathic medicine from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, before completing his internship and residency at University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, and his fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
 
Dr. Huss said that the “camaraderie amongst the extremely educated and committed staff is palpable” at City of Hope. He works at City of Hope's Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita community practice sites.
