Jennifer Chen, M.D., showed so much interest in medicine in her youth that she skipped three grades to start her undergraduate degree and studies in science at age 14, following her invitation to enter California State University Los Angeles’ Early Entrance Program, where she completed her bachelor's degree in biology.
Dr. Chen earned her medical degree from Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, followed by an internship in surgery at the University of California Riverside, and a residency in diagnostic radiology at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She pursued a breast imaging fellowship at the University of California Irvine, where she worked with the acclaimed radiologist Stephen Feig, M.D.
At City of Hope, Dr. Chen is an advocate for patient health literacy. She takes the time to walk patients through their exams in an honest and instructive manner. Her goal is to have patients be informed and feel supported throughout the entire course of their care.
Dr. Chen spent her childhood in Los Angeles County, just 30 minutes from City of Hope's campus. She is honored to treat members of her community and give back to Southern California, which gave her such an extraordinary start in life.
When not working with her patients, Dr. Chen likes to travel, dine out, garden, and spend time with friends and family.
