Health Education and Awareness Programs
City of Hope Atlanta offers health education and cancer awareness programs customized to help individuals, families and communities better understand cancer prevention, screening, early detection and healthy lifestyle choices that may reduce cancer risk.
Our team can provide knowledgeable speakers for community events, health fairs, educational programs and outreach activities, helping encourage informed decisions and open conversations about health and wellness.

Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Benefit Reports
In 2022, City of Hope acquired the Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), expanding access to world-class research and cancer care to patients nationally. Included in the acquisition was our hospital located in Newnan, Georgia. City of Hope Atlanta has undertaken a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) as required by federal law.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, IRS section 501(r)(3), directs tax-exempt hospitals to conduct a CHNA and develop an implementation strategy every three years. The CHNA is a primary tool used by City of Hope to determine our community benefit plan, which outlines how we’ll give back to the community through healthcare and other services to address unmet community health needs. City of Hope worked in partnership with a team of local community benefit experts and community members to develop our CHNA, which meets all requirements set by the IRS in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for nonprofit hospitals.

Through community events, partnerships and employer programs, City of Hope Atlanta works to expand access to cancer education, prevention and screening services across Georgia and the Southeast.

Breast Cancer Screening Events
City of Hope Atlanta offers low-cost breast cancer screening events throughout the year at our campus in Newnan, Georgia, helping make early detection more convenient and accessible for women in the community.
These community mammography screening events include advanced 3D digital breast tomosynthesis imaging. Most insurance plans are accepted, and uninsured patients may receive a screening for $99. No physician referral is required. Participants must meet screening eligibility guidelines.
Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 770-400-6677. Participants must have a physician who can receive their screening results.

Lung Patient Navigator Katina Settle and local students raised awareness for lung cancer screenings at a Nascar Race.
Patrick Brown, Katey Rutherford and Ray Williams attended HomeTown Health's spring conference for rural hospital executives, we were proud to collaborate with these hospitals on how we can partner to bring cancer care to their patients.
Over 200 volunteers were dispatched throughout the county to do volunteer service work for community member and nonprofits in need.
Each month, City of Hope Atlanta provides a breast screening event with discounted rates for uninsured members of our community.
City of Hope Atlanta joined fellow healthcare and community organizations at Community Wellness Day in Downtown Newnan, sharing cancer prevention, screening and treatment resources with attendees. The annual event brings together local partners to promote health, wellness and community engagement across Coweta County.
City of Hope Atlanta was proud to help fund a park in an underserved local community area. This park provides access for community members to come together to play, walk, and be active.
In partnership with the University of West Georgia, City of Hope used the university's mobile screening unit to offer prostate screenings to the community in honor of MLK Day.
City of Hope's Sheliah Hardigan and Dr. Salman Eraj attended the DeafNation conference in Atlanta. They spoke to attendees on Cancer Awareness and Prevention.
The City of Hope Atlanta community collected donations of food pantry supplies for the Coweta Samaritan Clinic.
