Patricia Aoun, M.D. M.P.H., is professor emeritus in the Department of Pathology and is a member of the Toni Stephenson Lymphoma Center. A board-certified pathologist, Dr. Aoun came to City of Hope from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, where she was a tenured professor in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology.
Dr. Aoun graduated magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and received her medical doctorate from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree from the Columbia University School of Public Health in New York. Dr. Aoun then completed an internship in anatomic pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C, where she was honored by selection as chief resident. Dr. Aoun then went on to complete a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology, Dr. Aoun has written numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at numerous national and international meetings. She’s also spent considerable time and effort teaching and mentoring, including as course director for numerous national courses in hematopathology sponsored by the Society of Hematopathology, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and others.
