Pooja Manroa, M.D.

Welcome to the City of Hope Endocrinology Fellowship program webpage. It is my privilege to introduce our unique and dynamic fellowship program.

We are the only ACGME accredited fellowship program in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. City of Hope National Medical Center is consistently ranked as the top cancer center in the country by US News and World Report.

Our program is designed to provide comprehensive clinical training, robust research opportunities, and exposure to latest advances in the field of endocrinology. Our aim is to train the next generation of endocrinologists and prepare them to excel in clinical practice, academic research, and leadership roles within this field.

City of Hope National medical center is located at Duarte, California in the beautiful foothills of San Gabriel mountains and is the primary training site for the fellowship program. Trainees participate in a weekly continuity clinic, specialty clinics like thyroid FNA, advanced thyroid cancer, Pituitary/Neuroendocrine Tumor clinics as well as inpatient endocrine consult service at this site. Trainees get exposure to general endocrinology disorders in oncology population as well as endocrine related tumors.

Los Angeles Medical Center is the flagship referral center in the Southern California Kaiser Permanente system and a major teaching hospital for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. Trainees participate in a weekly continuity clinic as well as specialty clinics like pediatric, reproductive endocrinology, transgender medicine, and high-risk pregnancy clinic. In addition, trainees participate in the inpatient consult service where they have the opportunity to teach medical students and residents. This partnership provides exposure to a diverse patient population and complement the training at the primary site.

Throughout fellowship, trainees have access to state-of-the-art facilities, diverse patient populations, and a collaborative learning environment that fosters both professional and personal development.

In addition, trainees and faculty at both sites participate in educational activities like Grand Rounds, weekly didactics, case conferences, Journal club, multidisciplinary tumor boards (thyroid, genomic, neuro-endocrine, pituitary etc.) Procedural training like thyroid FNA, DXA interpretation, diabetes technology etc. is provided at both training sites.
