Program Structure

Our one-year non-ACGME fellowship program training will consist of:

• Inpatient consultation service
• Outpatient clinic
• Electives: Collaborative rounds with inpatient and outpatient hematology service, outpatient oncology service, and hospital medicine teams, outpatient parenteral antimicrobial program team, antimicrobial stewardship team, microbiology team, and a potential off-site rotation at a solid organ transplant program
• Protected time for clinical/translational research based on fellow’s interest 
• Participation in bi-monthly case conference and monthly journal club 

The fellowship program will focus on:

•  Infectious complications resulting from cytotoxic chemotherapies, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and pre-cellular therapy conditioning regimens
• Identify interplay of host and graft factors that contribute to infectious risk in the hematopoietic transplant recipient
• Antimicrobial prophylaxis and pre-emptive approaches for the prevention of infection after cellular therapy
• Pre-cellular therapy screening for pathogens (e.g., latent tuberculosis, DNA viruses, etc.)
• Cellular therapy complications requiring immunosuppression that affect risk of infection
• Diagnosis and management of bacterial, fungal/mold, viral, and parasitic infectious associated with cellular therapy
• Antimicrobial stewardship unique to immunocompromised patient population
