Urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon Claire Burton, M.D., was inspired to pursue her calling by the example of her mother, who was also a surgeon. She is passionate about helping people and finds fulfillment in channeling her skills to make a substantial difference in patients’ quality of life.
Having grown up in Pasadena, Dr. Burton is excited to return home and care for the community that supported her during her formative years. Her approach to treatment is to first learn a patient’s goal for their care, then develop a therapeutic plan through shared decision-making.
Dr. Burton’s specialties include male and female voiding dysfunction, incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder neck obstruction, bladder and uterovaginal prolapse, rectocele, female genitourinary reconstruction, urethral diverticulum and urinary tract fistula. She is a physician-scientist with 14 peer-reviewed publications when she joined City of Hope in 2023, including an American Journal of Medicine study showing that female primary physicians offer better care to women with urinary incontinence. During medical school at USC, she was chapter president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Away from the clinic, Dr. Burton enjoys spending time with her two sons, walking in the San Gabriel Mountains, running and visiting the beach.
