Diya Sandhu, M.D., specializes in managing pain that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis. She focuses on highly personalized care, offering treatments ranging from holistic and natural remedies to more advanced procedures such as spinal cord stimulation. Additionally, she strives to collaborate with the patient’s entire medical team to ensure care is well-coordinated.
A prolific researcher and speaker, Dr. Sandhu is noted for her findings on innovative pain management, specifically managing chronic pain for older adults, women, and athletes. She is also an expert in neuromodulation, a minimally invasive procedure that can minimize opioid intake. Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Sandhu was an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine, where her work spanned orthopedics, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.
Dr. Sandhu earned her medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center, followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at State University of New York, Syracuse. She further specialized by completing a pain medicine fellowship at Emory University.
