Summer is fast approaching — and so is skin cancer season.

The skin is the body's largest organ, but it's also one of the most neglected. Skin cancer is — by far — the most common cancer among Americans. According to the American Cancer Society, there will be more than 5 million new cases of skin cancer diagnosed in 2018. That includes approximately 91,270 new cases of its most deadly form, melanoma.

And the reason is as clear as day. Americans simply do not take enough precautions against the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Many even deliberately compromise their skin health for a tan.

But the good news is that there is much you can do to prevent skin cancer. And so, in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, here is everything you need to protect your skin from the dangers of cancer.
