City of Hope Cancer Center Atlanta Announces New Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director of Surgical Oncology

City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta welcomes two talented leaders to their roster: Alton “AJ” Brooks, Jr., a health care administrator who will serve as Chief Operating Officer; and Tolutope Oyasiji, M.D., who will act as Medical Director of Surgical Oncology and provide surgical care to patients. 

“We are excited to expand our cancer center’s leadership with such talented individuals,” shared Jonathan Watkins, president at City of Hope Atlanta. “Our priority is to seek out leaders who provide expert care, align with our values and contribute to our mission to bring hope to those touched by cancer. I’m confident both AJ and Dr. Oyasiji will excel in all areas.” 

Alton “AJ” Brooks, Jr. 
AJ has served in health care operations and patient services leadership positions for over 15 years. At City of Hope Atlanta, he will oversee daily operations of all departments with the goal of refining processes, establishing more efficient workflows and improving cancer care services in order to provide the best possible experience for patients while cultivating a positive, efficient workplace for staff. Prior to City of Hope Atlanta, AJ served as executive director of Patient Services at Piedmont Healthcare in Fayetteville, where he supported their non-nursing clinical and ancillary departments through administrative and operational guidance that led to strong year-over-year successes. 

Tolutope Oyasiji, M.D. 
Dr. Tolutope Oyasiji will serve City of Hope Atlanta on the Surgical Oncology team, providing surgical services to patients while also utilizing his nearly three decades of experience to lead the department as Medical Director. A renowned surgeon, Dr. Oyasiji treats multiple cancer types using leading-edge surgical techniques. He has expertise in many minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures, as well as complex operations such as cytoreductive surgery and hypothermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) procedures. Prior to City of Hope Atlanta, Dr. Oyasiji practiced with McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.
