Dechen Dolkar, M.D., joins City of Hope with over 25 years of experience as a radiation oncologist. Based at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton for most of her career, she previously served as medical director of radiation oncology for over a decade, instituting many advanced technologies and radiotherapy techniques.
She is experienced in the latest therapy techniques including volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery/radiotherapy (SRS/SRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), partial breast irradiation (PBI), image and surface guided radiotherapy (IGRT/SGRT). Her practice also includes novel therapeutics such as the use of radiopharmaceuticals and radioiodine for multiple cancer types.
As a City of Hope team member, Dr. Dolkar works collaboratively with a range of specialists. She believes in treating patients with compassion, ensuring that patients understand their diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Dolkar completed her residency in radiation oncology at UCLA, and internship in internal medicine at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. She earned both her medical degree and Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from USC. Dr. Dolkar transitioned to City of Hope from the Keck School of Medicine at USC where she was Assistant Clinical Professor at St. Jude.
