Cardiothoracic radiologist Deniz Urgan, M.D., is dedicated to collaboration, working with experts in fields such as pulmonology, cardiology and surgery to ensure well-informed, personalized treatment decisions. Her clinical and research interests center on lung cancer imaging, lung cancer screening and cardiac and vascular pathologies, both ischemic and nonischemic.
Dr. Urgan completed her medical degree and internship at Marmara University, followed by a residency in radiology at Haydarpasa Numune Research Hospital, both located in Istanbul, Turkey. She advanced her postgraduate training with a fellowship focused on body MRI at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and a fellowship in cardiothoracic imaging at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Urgan has published several case reports in peer-reviewed journals and was co-investigator on the International Study of Comparative Health Effectiveness with Medical and Invasive Approaches (ISCHEMIA), a National Institutes of Health-funded project that was recognized with a Data Quality and Participant Retention Award. She joined City of Hope from UCI, where she was an assistant clinical professor of cardiothoracic imaging.
