Gene Lui, D.O., is a psychiatrist and an associate professor of supportive care medicine at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. In his clinical work, he uses his expertise in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to support patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual well-being before, during and after cancer treatment.
Dr. Lui entered medical school intending to focus on internal medicine, but he soon discovered how rewarding the field of psychiatry could be. He earned his medical degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island and completed his residency at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He has experience in private practice and inpatient psychiatry, as well as liaising with community hospitals and working in tertiary care institutions.
A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Lui is a committed advocate for the importance of supportive care for cancer patients everywhere.
