For Hoda Z. Pourhassan, M.D., being a physician is where scientific curiosity meets humanity. She is a strong believer in City of Hope’s team approach to treatment, and infuses her care with insights gained from her research into the genetics of blood cancers.
Fluent in Farsi, Dr. Pourhassan earned her master’s in health administration and management and her medical degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago. She began her postgraduate training with a residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, during which she conducted research into stem cell transplantation at University of Minnesota. Dr. Pourhassan then served as chief resident at Riverside Community Hospital and clinical instructor at University of California Riverside. She has completed fellowships in oncology/hematology at Loma Linda University and in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy at City of Hope.
