Jerry Cheng, M.D. is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist who specializes in pediatric bone marrow transplants. He is also a member of the City of Hope®/Kaiser Bone Marrow Transplantation Team. As a blood and cancer specialist for children, he says he has the privilege of getting to work with patients and their families.

Cheng works with a team of oncologists, pharmacists, nurse coordinators, pediatric nurses, social workers and medical assistants to provide the best care possible. He says that good communication is essential to their success. Cheng believes in treating the whole patient, not just the disease, and says that to him, mind, body and spirit are one.

Cheng went to medical school at University of California, Irvine and completed his pediatric residency and internship at UCLA Medical Center. His fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology was also completed at the same institution.

Born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii, Cheng left the island life behind him after high school, though he still returns annually to enjoy the nice weather and kind people. When he’s not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising and playing golf.
