Krupal Patel, M.D., M.Sc., is an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at City of Hope Cancer Center Duarte and a board-certified otolaryngologist.
In the clinic, Dr. Patel works with patients who have melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers in the head & neck region, skull base cancers, head & neck cancers, and thyroid and parathyroid diseases. His expertise is in a wide range of minimally invasive surgeries including endoscopic skull base surgery, transoral robotic surgery and reconstructive surgery. He earned his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan, then completed a residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and Master of Surgery at Western University in London, Ontario, followed by a fellowship in head & neck oncology – microvascular reconstructive surgery at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Patel leads the translational research efforts in Division of Head & Neck at City of Hope, is a member of the head and neck disease trials team, and site PI for multiple industry and cooperative group trials. He is a member of multiple professional associations, including the American Head and Neck Society and the North American Skull Base Society.
Dr. Patel’s research interests include disparities in head & neck cancer, financial toxicity, patient reported outcomes, remote patient monitoring, and development of genomic biomarkers that can predict the impact of therapeutic interventions on patients’ quality of life.
