Linda Bosserman, M.D., Ph.D., A.A.S.E.C.T., F.A.S.C.O., F.A.C.P.
Sexual Wellness and Breast Cancer
Professor, Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research
Linda Bosserman, M.D., Ph.D., A.A.S.E.C.T., F.A.C.P., F.A.S.C.O., is a professor in the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research, offering telemedicine services at City of Hope Sand Canyon. Dr. Bosserman most recently earned a Ph.D. in clinical sexology focused on the updated science, assessments, and treatment options to address sexual toxicities in women with breast and other cancers. She also earned certification as a sex counselor by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) in March of 2024.
As an ASCO member since 1990, Dr. Bosserman has served on and continues to serve on numerous committees, task forces, and two guideline panels. After completing a 4-year term on the board of directors in June of 2018, she was chosen to succeed Dr. John Cox as the editor-in-chief (EIC) of the Journal of Oncology Practice in 2019.
A long career as a practicing medical oncologist, clinical investigator, practice manager, and leader in oncology initiatives informs her work and leadership on pathways, protocols and value-based cancer care, where her experience includes perspectives from all stakeholders in oncology. She has published on value-based care and other areas of her work in many peer-reviewed journals.
At City of Hope, Dr. Bosserman leads the Pathways and Protocols Program, which oversees the Clinical Pathway program for medical oncology, hematology, and radiation oncology, the integration of City of Hope clinical trials into the pathway system, the building of complex cancer therapy orders in the EPIC medical record and the analytics for clinical and financial outcomes. She also directs the Center for International Medicine, which collaborates with cancer centers and faculty experts in China, the Philippines, Brazil, and a growing number of other countries.
Clinically, Dr. Bosserman now focuses only on the care and treatment of sexual toxicities in patients with cancer, especially women with breast and hormone-positive cancers. She has developed practical and evidence-based clinical pathways to address the unmet clinical needs of breast cancer patients, which impact their quality of life and treatment adherence. She is sharing the latest scientific evidence with busy oncology clinicians locally, nationally, and internationally, aiming to expand their comfort and knowledge in assessing and addressing sexual toxicities and driving updates to national treatment guidelines based on review of the scientific evidence. Dr. Bosserman collaborates to improve the well-being of cancer patients and survivors in a common toxicity that can improve quality of life, health, and satisfaction.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bosserman volunteers through the Los Angeles County Fair as a member of the board of directors to expand Farm education, events, and programs to help people learn to grow, harvest, prepare, and enjoy a variety of plant-based foods. She enjoys cooking, writing, playing the guitar, and spending time with her family, including 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as friends.
