Nazia Khatoon, M.B.B.S., M.D., joined City of Hope Cancer Center in Lake County, Illinois, in August 2023 as a pathologist. Board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, with a sub-specialty in cytopathology, she works with a multidisciplinary team and analyzes test results to deliver accurate, detailed pathology reports that help oncologists recommend appropriate treatment options.
Dr. Khatoon completed her medical school training at Deccan College of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India, where she received distinctions in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology. She went on to complete her residency in combined anatomic and clinical pathology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she also served as the chief resident during her final year of residency. After her first fellowship in surgical pathology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, she finished a second fellowship in cytopathology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
During her residency, Dr. Khatoon participated in multiple research studies, including an ongoing study on pancreatic carcinoma, and has presented her work nationally at multiple annual meetings. She’s a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society for Cytopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
