Nilton D. Medina, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta, where he specializes in providing leading-edge surgical reconstruction options for patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Dr. Medina has more than 15 years’ experience as a fellowship-trained microvascular surgeon.
In the clinic, Dr. Medina’s focus is on offering patients options for oncoplastic surgery that help restore the appearance and function of the breast and support patients’ confidence and quality of life across their cancer journey and beyond. He performs both implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction and is experienced in complex revision surgery and the use of fat grafting techniques.
Dr. Medina completed his medical degree at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire, then pursued an internship and two residences—one in general surgery and one in plastic and reconstructive surgery—at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he also served as chief resident. He also undertook a microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Medina is a physician-scholar with multiple publications to his name. He has presented on his work at conferences across the nation and was honored to be included on Castle Connolly’s 2024 Top Doctors list.
