Nitika Sharma, M.D., is a medical oncologist and hematologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta, where she diagnoses and treats patients with multiple cancer types, focusing on breast cancer, thoracic cancers and gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Sharma is a firm believer in the patient-centered approach that is central to both her and City of Hope’s ethos. She seeks to provide patients with high-quality care as quickly and as compassionately as possible.
At City of Hope Atlanta, Dr. Sharma collaborates with other physicians and clinical providers to create a tailored treatment plan for every patient, harnessing the power of innovative options such as immunotherapy and targeted therapy, as well as leading-edge diagnostic tools like next-generation tissue sequencing. She also works with supportive care providers to ensure patients have a healthy quality of life during and after treatment.
Dr. Sharma earned her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India, then completed a residency in internal medicine at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she was named chief resident. She was also named chief fellow during her hematology-oncology fellowship at Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, where she subsequently served as the director and chief physician of thoracic oncology.
