Peter Ngo, M.D., is a dedicated general hematologist and medical oncologist who brings a deep sense of purpose and compassion to his work at City of Hope® Long Beach Elm and Worsham. A native of Southern California, Dr. Ngo is passionate about giving back to the community that shaped him. His journey into medicine was driven by a desire to take on meaningful challenges and make a lasting impact on people’s lives. Inspired by mentors during medical school, he found his calling in cancer care and has since committed himself to supporting patients through some of life’s most difficult moments.
Dr. Ngo’s philosophy centers on integrity and diligence, and he strives to instill confidence in every patient he meets. He is particularly excited about emerging technologies like circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and their potential to personalize cancer treatment, as demonstrated in the recent SERENA-6 trial.
Dr. Ngo earned his medical degree through an accelerated B.S./M.D. program at the University of Akron and Northeast Ohio Medical University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve MetroHealth, followed by fellowships in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center and in Hematology/Oncology at Harbor-UCLA.
He has volunteered at free clinics and shelters, and his research has contributed to international melanoma studies.
