Dr. Mooney earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude in mathematics from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. She went on to receive her medical doctorate from the University of California, Irvine, followed by an internship and residency in family medicine at Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Mooney continued her postgraduate training at Kaiser Los Angeles with a fellowship in palliative and hospice medicine.
Board certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Mooney holds memberships with the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, and the American Medical Informatics Association. She is a member of the core faculty for the City of Hope hospice and palliative medicine fellowship, and additionally acts as rotation director and educator for City of Hope pharmacy residents. She is also involved in optimization of the electronic medical record system EPIC as a ConnectHope Liaison for the department of supportive care medicine, and acts as Quality Chair for the department as well, ensuring effective workflows, communication, and productivity. And of course, safe and compassionate patient care is always a priority.
When she’s not working, Dr. Mooney enjoys reading, going for walks round the neighborhood, watching horror films and spending time with her family.
