Yan Liu, M.D., Ph.D., is a hematopathologist and associate clinical professor at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where she brings her expertise in diagnostic hematopathology to ensure that patients receive timely, accurate diagnoses for a wide range of cancers and disorders affecting the blood and bone marrow.
Committed to solving even the most complex diagnostic challenges and to integrating molecular approaches to care into her practice, Dr. Liu helps each patient’s cancer care team target treatment based on that patient’s unique diagnosis and health needs. She recognizes that behind every specimen is a patient who is relying on her expertise.
After earning her medical degree and a Ph.D. in pathology and pathophysiology at Central South University (CSU) in Hunan, China, Dr. Liu completed an internship at CSU, followed by a residency and a fellowship in pathology and laboratory medicine at Loma Linda University and the University of California Los Angeles, respectively. She is a member of multiple professional organizations, has led numerous research initiatives and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles.
