Dr. Qian earned his Ph.D. degree at the Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology at the Chinese Academy of Science in China. He then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Chicago. In 2010, he established his independent research laboratory in the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Among his many honors, Dr. Qian received the Scholar Award from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Researcher of the Year Award in 2018. Most recently, in 2024, he was recognized with the Outstanding Research Scientist Award in Basic and Translational Science at the University of Florida. Dr. Qian’s research spans various tumor types, including acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and lung cancer, and is currently supported by funding from the National Cancer Institute, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
