Hematopathology Fellowship Program
The Hematopathology Fellowship Program at City of Hope is designed for fellows interested in an immersive hematopathology experience suitable for academic careers or community practice. Supporting one of the largest bone marrow transplantation programs in the United States, and enjoying very active clinical and consultation services, the program evaluates more than 3,000 diagnostic specimens involving peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes and extranodal biopsies each year.
The first fellowship year is ACGME accredited and focuses on diagnostic hematopathology. Fellows are paired on clinical diagnostic services with one of over eight hematopathology attending faculty. Didactic lectures, slide seminars, patient care conferences, bimonthly research meetings and a journal club round out the educational experience. During the second year, fellows focus on their research projects and participate as instructors with opportunities for independent hematopathology case sign out within the division.
