More than 400 attended the 2024 Spirit of Life® gala in Chicago in September.
Eight years ago, Harry Dochelli’s son was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. In September, Mike Dochelli helped introduce his father as the 2024 Spirit of Life® honoree at the National Business Products Industry’s (NBPI) annual gathering.
Harry Dochelli, president and CEO, Essendant, a distributor in the industry, said, “My son today is healthy and good, and that’s because somebody along the way developed a process for a high rate of cure for thyroid cancer.” He added, “It’s a result of research somewhere. And I think that’s why it’s important for all of us that can help and support the opportunity to cure this really horrible disease.”
This year, the combined efforts of the NBPI donors and volunteers raised $14 million to support cancer research at City of Hope. Over many decades, the group has contributed more than $250 million to City of Hope’s innovative research and care.
