Getting treated for sickle cell disease at City of Hope means you’re steps away from research labs where exciting new therapies for sickle cell disease are being developed. That means our research moves quickly from the lab to our patients’ bedside.
Sickle Cell Research Projects
Some of our past and current research projects include:
- Evaluating gene therapy as a treatment for sickle cell disease in patients ages 12 and older
- Testing a stem cell-based therapy for adult patients with severe sickle cell disease
- Investigating whether bone marrow transplantation may be effective in treating patients with sickle cell disease
Supportive Care for Sickle Cell Disease
Receiving a sickle cell disease diagnosis can be frightening. Getting through the experience and figuring out how to live a long life takes layers of support.
Living With Sickle Cell Disease
When you come to City of Hope, you gain access to a strong support network, including staff to help you and your family at every step in your journey. That includes services from talk therapy to meditation to logistical assistance from a patient navigator.
