Patients rave about the care they've received from Karen Sokolov, M.D., a board-certified radiation oncologist. She joins City of Hope after serving the community of Torrance, California, for the past decade.
A perpetual honors student, Dr. Sokolov received a B.S. in chemistry from UCLA and was named Bruin of The Year. She then earned her medical degree at UC San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her internship at Saint Mary Hospital in Long Beach, California before returning to UCLA for residency in radiation oncology where she rose to the level of Chief Resident.
Dr. Sokolov is experienced in a wide variety of precision radiation systems and equipment, including Stereotactic Brain and Body Radiation (SRS and SBRT), Deep Inspiration Breath Hold technique for breast treatment, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), and 4D Radiotherapy.
Dr. Sokolov has published a diverse series of papers aimed at improving the effectiveness of various radiation systems.
