As a medical oncologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, Khaled Abouelezz, MD., M.Ed., provides innovative clinical care for patients with a range of gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal, pancreatic, biliary, colon and anal cancer. He also brings his expertise and compassion to his role as a palliative care and hospice medicine specialist.
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, palliative medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Abouelezz attended medical school at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and earned a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing a residency in internal medicine at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, he then completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at the University of Miami in Florida, followed by another in hematology and oncology at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.
An avid physician-scholar, Dr. Abouelezz has published numerous papers and been involved in a number of clinical trials. Currently, he is principal investigator for a clinical trial studying metastatic pancreatic cancer.
