Lusi Tumyan, M.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Tumyan received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Occidental College in Los Angeles where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to obtain her medical doctorate from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed a medicine internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA, and went on to complete her training as a general radiology resident at the LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Tumyan also completed a fellowship in breast imaging at the Iris Cantor University of California, Los Angeles Women’s Health Center.
During her career, Dr. Tumyan has received many awards and honors. She received the Sherman Mellinkoff Faculty Award from UCLA in 2005, and a Howard Hughes Medical Apprenticeship Award in 1999. She received a Certificate of Merit from the Radiological Society of North America in 2009. She has published many articles in peer-reviewed literature and presented at numerous national conferences. Dr. Tumyan is fluent in Russian, Armenian and conversational Spanish. She is also an outstanding specialist in breast imaging.
