Board-certified and fellowship-trained in his field, Dennis Choat, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.C.R.S., is a colorectal surgeon at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta and City of Hope Cancer Center Paces Ferry, where he offers patients with colon and bowel cancer access to innovative surgical treatment options.
Dr. Choat has more than 30 years’ experience in the field of cancer care and colon and rectal surgery. His expertise includes performing a wide range of robotic surgeries, minimally invasive procedures and leading-edge approaches such as transanal natural orifice surgeries and colonoscopies. His goal is to ensure patients receive the innovative care they deserve while minimizing side effects and impacts on their quality of life.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Dr. Choat went on to complete a general surgery residency in Atlanta at Georgia Baptist Medical Center, followed by specialty fellowship training in colorectal surgery at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. An active member of organizations including the Medical Association of Atlanta, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Piedmont Colorectal Society, he has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career, including serving as medical staff president and chair of general surgery.
