Board-certified urologist Michael Sazon Gomez, M.D., has more than 15 years of experience caring for patients throughout the Chicago area. At City of Hope® Cancer Center Downtown Chicago, he specializes in prostate cancer and other urologic cancers as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team. He also maintains his primary practice with UroPartners.
Inspired by his mother's career as a nurse, Dr. Gomez chose medicine because of his passion for helping others. He was drawn to urology because it combines advanced surgical care with the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients throughout their care.
His expertise includes robotic-assisted prostatectomy and nephrectomy, prostate biopsy and treating urinary conditions related to cancer and its treatment, including urinary retention and incontinence. He also has a special interest in minimally invasive therapies for prostate cancer.
Dr. Gomez earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio and completed residencies in general surgery and urology at the University of Toledo Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in robotic-assisted urologic surgery at Henry Ford Hospital.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for the Chicago White Sox. He also speaks Spanish.
