As a hematologic oncologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix , Misam Zawit, M.D., M.P.H., works with patients undergoing treatment for a variety of blood cancers, including acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and bone marrow failure syndromes.
Dr. Zawit combines his expertise in a wide range of treatment options, from chemotherapy and targeted therapies to cellular therapies and bone marrow transplantation, with a commitment to compassionate and personalized care for every patient throughout their cancer journey.
After completing his medical training at Jordan University of Science and Technology in Irbid, Jordan, Dr. Zawit completed a residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, followed by an experimental and clinical hematology research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation-Taussig Cancer Institute and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio. A member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, he also earned a master’s in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
