Rajiv Tangri, D.O., is a dual board-certified nuclear radiologist at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center with more than 20 years of experience in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and oncology-focused care. Dr. Tangri was drawn to medicine after a car accident left him with back pain and a desire to understand both its cause and how to help others experiencing similar challenges. His interest in nuclear medicine developed during an early radiology rotation, where learning how PET scans could detect cancer sparked his vision for using the same targeted approach to treat disease.
Today, Dr. Tangri has extensive experience in theranostics, which combines advanced imaging with targeted radionuclide therapies to personalize cancer care. He is especially excited about the potential of theranostics to improve treatment for patients with common cancers. Throughout his career, he has also led oncology imaging and PET/CT programs and received two CARE Awards for Excellence in Patient Care.
At City of Hope, Dr. Tangri strives to treat every patient as he would a member of his own family. He believes hope means giving patients the chance to live not simply a longer life, but a long, happy one. Outside of medicine, he enjoys boating, yoga and playing the harmonium.
