Dr. Shreyas Patel is a distinguished hospitalist acclaimed for his expertise in internal medicine, academic leadership, and advancing health care quality for patients at organizations in New York and California. “Helping patients understand the complex medical information is very important and is one of my goals during my time with them,” he says. “People are stronger than imaginable, seeing patients push past their illnesses is always inspiring.” Before coming to City of Hope, Dr. Patel was with NYP Medical Group Westchester at New York-Presbyterian – Westchester, University of Toledo Physicians and Facey Medical Group, where he was noted for his clinical expertise and contributions to process improvements. His scholarly accomplishments include presentations on the utilization of electronic health records to boost continuity in patient-centered medical homes.
Dr. Patel completed his internal medicine residency at Albany Medical Center, where he launched transformative projects to optimize patient safety, streamline admissions, and integrate leading-edge EMR solutions, directly improving care delivery and resident education. Earning his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, he received his bachelor’s degree in biophysics from University of California Los Angeles. Devoted to mentorship and community impact, Dr. Patel has directed outreach initiatives serving the Filipino and Los Angeles communities, raised critical medical funding, and led science education for underserved youth. Dr. Patel speaks Gujarati and Spanish and is passionate about athletics and technology.
