Ting Bao, M.D., M.S., F.S.I.O., is deputy director and director of research for the Cherng Family Center for Integrative Oncology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where she also serves as professor of supportive care medicine and medical oncology.
In her role at the Cherng Center, Dr. Bao works closely with researchers and clinicians to investigate new ways to incorporate evidence-based integrative therapies into the standard-of-care for cancer patients at City of Hope and beyond. An internationally recognized scholar, Dr. Bao has published articles in more than 60 peer-reviewed journals, led numerous presentations and workshops around the world and served as principal investigator on multiple trials in the field of integrative oncology. She believes in a compassionate, whole-person approach to care that blends the best of Eastern and Western medicine.
After earning her medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Dr. Bao completed an internal medicine residency at the institute’s Bayview Medical Center and a medical oncology clinical fellowship at its Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also holds a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and trained in medical acupuncture at the Helms Medical Institute in Berkeley, California.
Prior to joining City of Hope, Dr. Bao held an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School and was the co-director of the Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She has also served in roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center, Weill Cornell Medical College and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
