Trevor Edmund Angell, M.D., is director of the Thyroid Cancer Program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he also serves as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Board-certified in internal medicine and diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism, Dr. Angell focuses on diagnosing and treating thyroid cancer and thyroid conditions, including thyroid nodule biopsy and molecular testing, hyperthyroidism and Grave's disease, and thyroid disorders during pregnancy.
Dr. Angell’s approach to care centers on compassionate, individualized treatment grounded in scientific knowledge. He is committed to helping patients understand their condition, feel informed about their care and participate in thoughtful, personalized treatment planning. His clinical and research interests include thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, endocrine disorders, autoimmune disease and immunology.
A widely published physician-scholar, Dr. Angell has authored and co-authored more than 60 research articles in journals such as JAMA Surgery, Thyroid, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and Current Opinion in Endocrinology and Diabetes. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association and he is a member of the most recent American Thyroid Association Guidelines Task force for the management of thyroid nodules. He also serves on editorial boards for leading endocrinology journals.
Dr. Angell earned his medical degree from Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology at LAC+USC Medical Center, as well as a cancer immunology fellowship in the Department of Pathology at Keck School of Medicine. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the Thyroid unit within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension where he focused on thyroid care and research.
