Dr. Jia-Chi (Jack) Wang, M.D., M.Sc., Ph.D., FACMG, FCCMG, is board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics in both Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. He earned his M.D. from China Medical University in Taiwan and completed his M.Sc. in Molecular Cytogenetics (with a focus on ovarian cancer) and his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics (focused on prostate cancer) at McGill University in Canada. Dr. Wang received fellowship training in Clinical Cytogenetics at B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver (2002-2004) and in Clinical Molecular Genetics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (2005-2008).
In 2005, Dr. Wang was appointed Head of Cytogenetics and Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. During his tenure, he validated three chromosomal microarray platforms and the AneuFast prenatal qPCR test. He also lectured and supervised students across all levels, from undergraduate thesis students to graduate, M.D., and CCMG fellows. Additionally, he served as the program director of the CCMG training program at McMaster University from 2009 to 2011 and was actively involved in the M.D. admissions review process from 2007 to 2011.
In 2011, Dr. Wang joined Quest Diagnostics at Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, CA, as Senior Director of Cytogenomics. Starting in 2013, he expanded his role to include global business initiatives for Quest Diagnostics. In 2018, he was promoted to General Manager of the Global Diagnostics Network (GDN) for the North East Asia Territory, where he managed pharmaceutical companion diagnostics, clinical trials, technology transfer of mass spectrometry for endocrine and metabolic disorders, digital pathology, artificial intelligence collaborations, dementia diagnostics, pharma services programs, and the infectious disease global network.
Over his career, Dr. Wang has published 37 peer-reviewed articles, including in prestigious journals such as Nature Genetics, Genetics in Medicine, European Journal of Human Genetics, and American Journal of Medical Genetics.
On August 17, 2020, Dr. Wang joined the Pathology Leadership team at City of Hope as Executive Director of Cytogenetics, and promoted as Associate Clinical Professor in 2022.
