PGY2 Goals and Curriculum
Curriculum
The curriculum of City of Hope’s one-year PGY2 program involves three major components: clinical rotations, the residency research project and additional longitudinal and project-based activities.
Core Rotations
- Inpatient Medical Oncology
- Inpatient Leukemia and Stem Cell Transplant
- Lymphoma (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Malignant Hematology Clinic
- Outpatient Medical Oncology
- Supportive and Palliative Care
- Infectious Disease
- Investigational Drug Services
- Longitudinal Administration
- Anticoagulation Clinic
- Longitudinal Infusion clinic/inpatient oncology staffing
- Elective rotations
Research Project
The resident will be required to design and complete an original IRB-approved hematology, oncology, immunotherapy or stem cell transplant-related research project. Additionally, the resident will be required to present the project and research findings at a national meeting and prepare a manuscript suitable for publication.
Longitudinal Activities
- Participation in interdisciplinary medical committees including the Safe Medication and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees
- Attendance at multidisciplinary conferences including tumor boards
- Medication monograph/formulary review, drug utilization evaluations and other administrative projects
- ACPE-accredited continuing education lecture
- One-hour didactic lecture at a school of pharmacy
- Journal clubs, patient case presentations and various other rotation-based presentations
- Teaching and precepting pharmacy residents and rotating students
