As a gastroenterologist-hepatologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, Dupinder Singh, M.D., specializes in diseases of the liver, especially fatty liver disease and liver cancer. He chose this field in part for its challenges: “Fatty liver disease,” he points out, “is the most common liver disorder in the United States and is on the rise due to its association with diabetes and obesity. Liver cancer is the only cancer with increasing mortality in the U.S."
Raised in India, Dr. Singh received his medical degree at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He then served a year as a primary care physician at AIIMS, the most premier medical college in India. He continued his training in the U.S. with residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, followed by a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Minnesota, and an advanced fellowship in transplant hepatology at University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Dr. Singh is double board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of several professional organizations, including American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Singh is a researcher and scientist who is widely published on topics related to liver disease.
