Joannie M. Ivory, M.D., M.SP.H., M.H.S., is a breast medical oncologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta, where she specializes in treating breast cancer using treatments including immunotherapy, endocrine therapy and chemotherapy. Dr. Ivory is committed to educating her patients and ensuring they feel empowered throughout their cancer journey.
Dr. Ivory earned her medical degree, as well as master’s degrees in public health and health science, at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She then completed her internal medicine residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and postdoctoral fellowship in health disparities at UNC’s Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research.
Dr. Ivory’s research is centered on health disparities and equity in cancer care — including removing barriers to access for patients enrolling in clinical trials for cancer. Her work in this area has been recognized with awards including a Young Investigator Award for Diversity and Inclusion in Breast Cancer Research from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
