Anh Nguyen, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foudnation Cancer Center whose path to medicine began after volunteering at an inner‑city community clinic, where he witnessed a profound mix of medical, social, and psychological needs. Dr. Nguyen chose a specialty that allows him to restore both function and appearance for patients facing complex challenges.

Cancer reconstruction became a defining focus for him early in his career. Seeing patients regain confidence and normalcy after life‑altering procedures deeply reinforced his commitment to this work. Dr. Nguyen brings extensive expertise in complex microsurgery, craniofacial reconstruction, breast reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, lymphedema surgery and advanced fat grafting—an area he has championed since the early 2000s.

He has served as program director for resident aesthetic surgery training at Baylor College of Medicine and received the Guiding Hand Award for Teacher of the Year. His educational path includes medical school at the University of Minnesota, general surgery at the University of Hawaii, plastic surgery training at USC, and advanced microsurgery and craniofacial fellowships at Chang Gung Hospital in Taiwan.

Dr. Nguyen has participated in international mission work, including burn reconstruction trips to Vietnam. He speaks and reads Vietnamese fluently.
