Annie Chen, M.D., is a pulmonologist noted for her extensive knowledge of complex pulmonary conditions at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center and cancer specialty hospital.
Although early in her career, Dr. Chen is already an accomplished researcher and author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations, including Annals of the American Thoracic Society and The American Journal of Medicine. Her clinical studies span pulmonary conditions, such as mucinous adenocarcinoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma affecting the lungs and trachea, as well as infectious diseases, such as blastomycosis and Strongyloides hyperinfection in immunocompromised patients.
Dr. Chen chose her field because of the unique challenges of helping patients and its critical-thinking and problem-solving skill development, especially for critical care patients. She says it is always important to make space for optimism and prioritizing the patient's goals.
Having completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Chen also completed her internal medicine residency at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, Florida, and a bachelor of science in microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics from the University of California Los Angeles.
