Firas Shadad, M.D., is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in treating genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix. Dr. Shadad takes a compassionate approach to care that involves collaborating with patients, their loved ones and other physicians to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to each patient’s needs, preferences and treatment goals. He has experience with cancer types ranging from bladder, prostate and kidney cancer to colorectal and pancreatic cancer.
In his clinical work, Dr. Shadad incorporates advances in treatment options and research breakthroughs, including immunotherapy, antibody drug conjugates and genomic testing. He also has more than 15 years’ experience as a faculty member and administrator, including chairing a committee dedicated to overseeing two American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer accreditation surveys.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Shadad went on to complete an internship, residency and fellowship in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has published research in multiple peer-reviewed journals and is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
