As a cardio-oncologist and the medical director of the Cardio-Oncology Program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, Jason C. Robin, M.D., F.A.C.C., serves as a key member of patients’ multidisciplinary care teams. His role focuses on detecting and treating cardiac health issues that may impact patients’ cancer treatment plan or their overall health during active treatment and into survivorship.
Dr. Robin was one of the first certified cardio-oncologists nationwide. With more than 20 years’ experience in his field, he has expertise in a wide range of heart conditions, including structural heart disease and complex cardiomyopathies, and how these conditions intersect with cancer care. Using standard-of-care and advanced diagnostic procedures, such as echocardiography, vascular imaging, cardiac MRI and cardiac biomarker testing, he helps ensure that cardiac health management remains a central element of effective cancer care.
A native Chicagoan and a fourth-generation physician, Dr. Robin earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College, then went on to pursue his internal medicine internship and residency and cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University. He regularly appears on “top doctors” lists published by Castle Connelly and Chicago Magazine and has received multiple awards for his teaching. A physician-scholar, he has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles, frequently presented on his work and served as principal investigator on numerous clinical trials.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Robin helped develop and direct North Shore University’s Division of Cardio-Oncology and served as chief medical officer for an area nursing group. The team cardiologist for the Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team, Dr. Robin is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
